Recruiternet Announces that Projectix is Equipped to Facilitate Compliance with the Proposed EEOC Definition Guidelines for “Applicant”
PORTLAND, ME - March 11, 2004 – Recruiternet, a leading provider of flexible applicant tracking software, affirmed that its Projectix platform is well equipped to support the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) proposed definition of “applicant.”
A recognized need to clarify employers’ recordkeeping obligations for job applicants prompted the EEOC to recently issue a document concerning who is an “applicant” in the context of the Internet and related technologies. According to the published proposition, a person is to be considered an applicant in the context of the Internet if; “(1) The employer has acted to fill a particular position, (2) The individual has followed the employer’s standard procedures for submitting applications; and (3) The individual has indicated an interest in the particular position.” The proposed guideline was opened to a 60-day public comment period beginning March 4, 2004.
“Projectix makes a clear distinction between a candidate and an applicant. This distinction is critical for corporations to comply with the EEOC’s proposed definition of an Internet ‘applicant’,” said Robert Neveu, president of Recruiternet. “Some technologies do not make such a distinction, or rely on importing large volumes of resumes from third party databases, which would seem not to facilitate compliance with the proposed guideline. EEOC compliance tools and associated reports have always been a critical feature in Projectix. We look forward to working with our clients to ensure they fully leverage these tools to meet the newly proposed guidelines.”
